Description

NGC 2024 - B33 - IC 434  Hello everyone and Happy New Year... as the first processed photo of the year I show the well-known Horse's Head B33, the red emission nebula IC 434 and the flame nebula NGC 2024  The complex of which the IC434, B33 and NGC2024 nebulae are part is located in the constellation of Orion, in the perspective proximity of the bright star Alnitak in the Orion Belt, about 1500 light years from us. Thanks to the presence of the red emission nebula originating from the ironized hydrogen of the nearby star Sigma Orions we can see the beautiful dark nebula B33 known as the Horse's Head. Precisely because of its characteristic of a Dark Cloud it cannot be seen easily but requires long photographic exposures.  The photo I show you was taken by my friend Mariano Curti with his equipment. What is impressive is the data obtained with only 140 exposures of 40" (yes, exactly 40 seconds). My friend was certainly helped by the sky from which he photographs (Pozzaglia Sabina with bortle scale declared 4) and also by a little of my experience in the elaboration acquired in recent years.  I show you both the raw master resulting from the integration and the photo processed by me with my classic workflow. Another thing... the flats were not made 🤩🤩.  TECHNICAL DATA:  Telescope: Skywatcher semi apo 120/1000 reduced to 750mm Camera: Canon 200D mod ir/cut Frame: HEQ5 Light: 140 x 40" Dark: 40 NO FLAT  Processing with pixinsight and photoshop  Well done Mariano!!!💪💪💪
